The daffodils, hyacinths, and forsythias are in full bloom, and the trees are all budding out—sure signs that spring is just around the corner! If only the temperature would catch up with the calendar, we would finally truly have spring! Fortunately, the days are a bit longer now, allowing you time in the evenings to work or play outside. This means it is the perfect time to sign up for some daytime classes! We have some exciting opportunities for you, so keep reading!

BIG HAND STITCH QUILTING FOR BEGINNERS CLASS

Saturday—March 26, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Class fee: $25; Required kit: $25.50                                           

Ever wanted to artfully Big Stitch quilt your own project but didn’t know where to start? Then this four-hour class is the class for you! Learn to baste a quilt sandwich; tie and bury a knot; evenly stitch your creation; and learn how it differs from hand quilting and Sashiko. You will discover techniques and tools to create texture and express yourself with needle and thread.

Required kit will include all materials needed to make a big-stitched table runner. Students will supply scissors or snips; thimble; low tack ¾” or 1” painters’ tape; and a needle threader (optional).

Want to create a small wall hanging to brighten any room and to celebrate spring? This class is for you! You will learn how to make Dresden flowers and how to applique them down. Then, you will learn how to finish the wall hanging with a Big Stitch Hand Quilting! So many techniques all in one class! Perfect!!

Tucker University is an ongoing series of classes that teach you to improve your piecing skills dramatically using Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 tools. The magic of her method is to make units slightly oversized and then trim them down to perfection! No more lost points! Each month is a stand-alone (with very few exceptions), so feel free to jump in at any time!

Skip the icing and get cutting into feature fabrics of solids, small scale prints, blenders, or batiks to create a Cookie Cutter quilt of your own - with no Y seams!

“JUST SEAMS” STRIP/RAG QUILT—Kathy Pleake, instructor

Class fee: $20, additional supplies required

Learn the technique of creating a quilt with only strips—no separate batting, backing, or binding required! When you are done piecing it and snipping the raw edges, the quilt is finished! Perfect for a baby quilt or throw
